THE STONE LION STORY

We are a Father-Daughter family team from a small town in Oklahoma. My dad, Al, has always enjoyed rather eclectic hobbies. My mother used to poke good-natured fun saying, "some husbands fish or go golfing, but mine mixes his own fireworks and does hypnosis shows." So it actually wasn't much of a surprise when dad announced to me and my husband, Zac, that he was thinking about buying a laser engraving and cutting machine. After tons of research and plenty of practice here we are with a little shop in this tiny corner of the internet.

It didn't take long to see the possibilities in the line of creating custom gifts and decor by pairing this machine with our creativity. Once we decided to go for it, the next order of business was... well, naming the business. Mainly, I wanted something that would honor my mother who died less than two years before this adventure was started. Stone Lion was my second mock up and I knew pretty quickly that it was what I wanted. You see, my parents got the chance to visit England just a few months before my mom was gone. Noticing that many of the homes were named, they began to joke about names for their own home. My dad wanted to call it The Stone Lion. We are big fans of C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia and enjoy most any reference to Aslan we can find. Mom tried to put dad off suggesting a few other names, but shortly after she died I found notes in her phone where she was pricing stone lion statues for dad's birthday. We are fairly certain she was planning to buy him the lion statue and let him name the house The Stone Lion. Since her death we have added several Narnian accents to their house including a lamppost, name plate and of course the lion statue she was looking at. Naming the new business Stone Lion seemed an obvious choice.

Beyond the name and the opportunity to work together on creative projects, it is our goal to honor the Lord in all that we do.
